Interested in volunteering with the 2024 NYC Dyke March? Come to Bluestockings Cooperative on Saturday, March 9 from 2-4pm to learn about how you can be a part of this year's march as either a marshal or a member of the planning committee! Marshals volunteer for the day of the event to ensure the March runs smoothly. The Planning Committee meets from March through June planning the March and events leading up to the March, like our iconic Raffle fundraiser.
Stop by the cafe at Bluestockings, chat with a committee member, and learn about how you can join the volunteer efforts for the 2024 NYC Dyke March!
What is the NYC Dyke March?
For the past 31 years, thousands of Dykes have taken the streets from Bryant Park to Washington Square Park on the last Saturday in June in protest of injustices we face and in celebration of our shared Dyke identity. The Dyke March is a protest march, not a part of pride - we do not work with cops or corporations.
What does it mean to join the committee?
Every year, the March is organized by a volunteer committee that accepts new members annually. The committee is non-hierarchical and open to anyone who identifies as a Dyke. We typically begin planning in March or April, which includes with weekly meetings on about topics like march logistics, fundraising events, accessibility, social media, and community expectations. Committee members’ contributions are varied and flexible based on each individual’s needs and availability.
